Philippians 4.4-7 (note: Paul has been imprisoned for
preaching the Gospel, that is, the righteousness for sinners that comes through
Christ alone. This excerpt comes as he prepares to close his letter to the
church in Philippi.)
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say,
rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to
everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be
anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to
God. 7 And the peace of God, which
surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
Prayer: Gracious and almighty Father, make the Gospel
go out to all the world. Light the darkened hearts and minds of all people with
the Truth. Cause your people to boldly preach the name of Christ. Give us
wisdom to discern your will and ways. Shower the world with awe and respect for
you. You are our one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I am your instrument for
your use in your kingdom. Where I can bear fruit for you – make it happen.
Where I can comfort, bless, or assist – make it so for your glory. In Jesus’
name I pray. Amen.
Now I may go freely into the day and the work you put in
front of me Lord; thank you.
